I moved to Margate in 2003 with the help of Channel 4 on a Relocation programme. The town was in a sorry state then but has since risen like a phoenix from the ashes. A stunning town in the late Edwardian era it was known for its stunning houses and seaside for Londoners mainly from the east end who arrived by paddle steamer! The age of cheap flights destroyed the town for over 25 years as people deserted the English coastal resorts. Now it’s very different indeed

Vibrant art scene & incredible vintage shops
A vibrant art scene, incredible vintage shops, great restaurants that are constantly booked up, miles of sandy beaches and huge parks to walk your dogs in. Located also near Ramsgate and Broadstairs also has added to its appeal. In a recent Daily Telegraph article, it was called The New Mykonos. It can be said that Margate has a real” buzz” about it.
Cutting edge Arts and international exhibitions
The Turner Centre has become a focal point for cutting edge Arts and international exhibitions are regularly put on here with streams of visitors. Stay at home vacations ( staycation) visitors have flooded the town with much-needed prosperity in this difficult year.
